The Diploma of Accounting is designed to give students who have completed study in Certificate IV in Accounting or Bookkeeping a greater understanding of accounting and finance functions and is an excellent pathway for students who wish to further their career in these fields. This course no longer has any compulsory entry requirements (Certificate IV in Accounting was a prerequisite up until April 2015).

If your goal is to enter into a Bachelor of Business or Accounting or a related degree students have the opportunity of having their Diploma of Accounting credited towards up to eight units. This is the difference between one year of extra study and thousands of dollars of university fees.



Based on the employment outcomes and training package requirements, the following units of competency have been selected for this qualification. Six core units and five elective units must be successfully completed to attain the certificate.

This qualification is delivered completely online. The learners will be part of an online learning community as well as their own learning groups connected through an easy to use online learning platform. This platform provides you with the convenience and flexibility of studying at home at your own pace and schedule while also being able to easily attend face-to-face tutorials with industry experts.

The learner facilitator interaction will mainly be online and email communication. The learners will have an opportunity to listen to and see the facilitator through the scheduled online tutorials.



The course is designed to reflect a real-life workplace context through online learning activities, face-to-face online tutorials with industry experts, workplace focused projects and practical tasks and assessments.

It is assumed that a considerable number of the learners enrolling in this course have either had some work experience or are considering starting out in a new job within the industry.

  • Completion of the core units from the Certificate IV in Accounting (FNS10 or FNS04)
    • The entry requirement can be met through recognition of prior learning (RPL)
    • CLC can provide a training program for you to meet these entry requirements either through formal training or RPL.
  • IELTS 5.5 or equivalent, OR Native English speaker
  • It will be expected of the learners to be proficient in the use of computer, internet and email

  • A suitable PC headset for participation in live online classes
